Exomad Green is the world's largest biochar carbon removal project and the leading supplier of durable carbon removal (CDR) credits. Operating in Bolivia, the project transforms sustainable forestry residues that would otherwise be burned into biochar, a stable form of carbon that improves soil quality while permanently storing carbon for more than 1,000 years. Exomad Green currently removes approximately 260,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually across two operational facilities and plans to scale to one million tonnes per year by 2027, making it one of the largest engineered carbon removal initiatives globally.
Beyond carbon removal, Exomad Green delivers significant environmental and social benefits by donating its biochar to indigenous communities and farmers to regenerate degraded soils, improve agricultural productivity, and reduce pressure on surrounding ecosystems. The project is certified by Puro.earth, uses Carbonfuture's digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (dMRV) system to ensure transparent and traceable carbon removals, and has attracted major corporate buyers and partners including Microsoft, BlackRock, UBS, Mercedes-Benz, and Swiss Re.
